On Sunday 6 September 2026, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Buderim Village Park will be transformed into a magical gathering place filled with fairies, music, dance, creativity, culture and family fun.
This year’s festival brings a magical new theme to FESTURI’s long-running celebration of cultural diversity. Fairies are not found in only one culture. Across the world, people have shared stories of magical beings connected to nature, forests, waterways and the unseen world—from fairies, little people and forest guardians to bush spirits, elves, pixies and other mystical beings found in folklore and cultural traditions.
The festival invites everyone to explore these stories through imagination, creativity and celebration while enjoying the multicultural music, dance and community spirit FESTURI is known for.
Plans are taking shape for a colourful day of live music, multicultural dance performances, children’s entertainment, creative workshops, storytelling and interactive activities.
Visitors can look forward to giant bubbles, fairy games, face painting, magical roaming entertainment, food stalls, market stalls and plenty of opportunities to create, play, explore and dance.
And now is the perfect time to start planning your costume!
Children, adults, families and friends are encouraged to create their own fairy, forest spirit, magical guardian, elf, little person, woodland creature or fantasy-inspired costume. Your creation might be inspired by nature, cultural folklore or simply your own imagination.
Costumes do not need to be expensive. Handmade wings, recycled materials, colourful fabrics,
flowers, leaves and treasures found in nature can all become part of something wonderful.
Make it a family project, invite your friends over for a costume-making afternoon and see what magical ideas you can create together.
One of the highlights of the day will be the All Ages Fairy Fashion Parade, with more than $200 in prizes to be won. Whether your costume is sparkling and colourful, inspired by nature, connected to cultural stories or completely original, we cannot wait to see what you come up with.
