BATS Theatre Company Inc. is one of the longest-running community theatre groups on the Sunshine Coast. Founded in 1924, when the School of the Arts was built on the site of the old Buderim Hall, BATS has been an integral part of the Sunshine Coast’s community theatre scene ever since, serving the community through art. Over its 98-year history, BATS Theatre Company Inc. has produced approximately 400 shows, including musicals, dramas, one-act plays, full-length plays, comedies, dance concerts, and ten-minute plays in recent years. BATS has also conducted workshops covering movement, directing, speech, and drama. For many years, BATS Theatre Company Inc. has held monthly play readings for public enjoyment, as well as volunteering and fellowship activities for about 100 members annually. It’s also the tenth anniversary of BATS producing the winning play of the Edythe Brook Cooper National Playwriting Competition biennially (both one-act and full-length plays), launching the careers of many professional and semi-professional actors on the Sunshine Coast and beyond. BATS Theatre Company Inc. welcomes new members. Anyone interested in joining can contact Alice at 0427 856 680 or president@batstheatre.com.
