Major Community Events
Within the BWMCA a number of sub committees are charged with responsibility of organising and conducting significant community events in Buderim. These committees are comprised entirely of volunteers, drawn from the local community. The quality and reputation of these events show the vast talent and calibre of the people in our community willing to give of their time and effort for the greater good.

ANZAC DAY
Each year this day of commemoration and remembrance is held to honour all Australians who have served and paid the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country.
The day begins with the very moving Dawn Service at the Memorial Hall and numbers increase every year.
The BWMCA also organised the main parade through Burnett Street to the Buderim Mountain School oval. The parade includes military participants, both active and retired as well as their younger representatives, community and service organisations, local schools and marching bands.
The main service and wreath laying ceremony is held under the hoop pine grove in the school grounds. Attendance has steadily increased in recent years and is open to all members of the public who wish to participate in this special day.
After the service attendees are invited to a morning tea in the school covered area by the Friends of Buderim sub committee, and the wreaths are placed at the Memorial Gates near the edge of the school oval.
While the reviewing officer and guest speakers vary from year to year the order of events remain the same.
Australia Day Celebrations
The Australia Day celebrations in Buderim have been a major and increasingly popular event organised by a sub-committee of the association for over 25 years. The famous Buderim Australia Day celebrations supported by the Maroochy Shire Council, put a strong emphasis on activities for the whole family.
Also in partnership with the Maroochy Shire Council a separate committee of the BWMCA coordinate the Maroochy Shire Australia Day Awards and the all-important Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.
All in all, an action packed fun day for all the family in Buderim – we look forward to seeing you there.
The tradition is to attend the Parade, hang about for the judging of the floats, then enjoy myriad activities of the day. These include the Mayor's 11 Cricket Match, complete with onsite refreshments area and the Bush Ballads and Poets performance. The program varies, here's the
order of events
for 2007!
The patriotic theme continues with the BWMCA involvement in the Maroochy Citizenship and Australia Day Awards Ceremony. Recognised locals who receive an award will take part in the Parade while the Citizenship Ceremony will be held in the afternoon at 3pm.
Remembrance Day
At 11am on 11 November, along with other Australian communities, the BWMCA hold a ceremony to commemorate the sacrifice of all those who have fought and died for Australia in all wars and conflicts. The gathering is held in the Foote Memorial Sanctuary on the eastern end of the Buderim Mountain plateau.
The commemoration is open to all members of the public who wish to pay their respect and to remember the supreme price paid on their behalf.
